Nairobi, KENYA: Western Stima FC Kenneth Muguna is the 2016 Kenya Premier League Most Valuable Player MVP of the year.

The uncapped midfielder was crowned in the KPL gala awards ceremony held at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi on Tuesday night.

He saw off competition from Gor Mahia defender Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma, John Mark Makwata of Ulinzi Stars, Tusker duo David Okello and Humphrey Mieno.

He in recognition of his achievement he was presented with sh. 1M and 2 LG television sets that comes with the accolade won last year by former Gor Mahia lanky forward Michael Olunga.

Muguna, 20, also claimed the Midfielder of the Year award and came second behind Gor Mahia ace Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma in the New Player of the Year category.

Posta Rangers’ Joackins Atudo was named Defender of the Year, ahead of Gor Mahia’s field captain Musa Mohamed and veteran Sofapaka defender Noah Abich who came second and third respectively.

Paul Nkata piped Gor Mahia’s Jose Marcelo Zemaria to emerge coach of the Year gong after guiding Tusker to claim league title and Gotv Shield trophy in his first season at the Ruaraka based club.

Referee of the Year went to David Ongwayo while celebrated Kenya referee Davies Omweno came second.
