Mombasa,KENYA:Uganda will battle Burundi in Saturday men’s soccer finals in the ongoing East Africa Community inter Parliamentary Games at the Mbaraki Sports Club Mombasa.
Jean Marie Cimpaye’s 58th minute goal is all that Burundi needed to edge pre-match favorites Tanzania in a closely contested semi-final clash played at Mbaraki stadium on Thursday.
Meanwhile a resilience Ugandan side thrashed defending champions East Africa Legislative Assembly EALA 3-0 to qualify for the finals.
Mr.Martin Ngonga opened the scoring in the third minute before Kampala City MP Mohammed Nsereko wrapped up Uganda dominance with a brace.
Third place playoff match between Tanzania and EALA will precede the Saturday finals.
Elsewhere hosts Kenya remained on course to retain its women’s volleyball title after beating EALA 2-0 (25-22, 25-15) in semis at the Makande Gymnasium.
Kenya will now meet Rwanda who overpowered Uganda 2-0 (25-19, 25-12) in the finals slated for Friday.
In men’s Athletics former Boston Marathon winner who is also, the Cherenganyi MP Wesley Korir led Kenya to victories in 4 by 400m and 1500m races.
