Mombasa, KENYA: A Mombasa high court on Thursday issued a warrant of arrest for an American man who is accused of  colluding with a Kenyan woman to kill a Nairobi business man.

Lady Justice Asnatha Ongeri issued a warrant of arrest against Mr. Jacob Schmalzle after senior director of public prosecution Vincet Monda linked him to the murder.

It’s alleged that Ms. Amina Shiraz colluded with her alleged American lover -Mr.Schmalzle -to kill her husband Jimmy Jagatram Baburam.

Court heard that the American who was on holiday with the two, fled the country after detectives linked him to the murder and was hiding in the  US.

Mr.Schmalzle is suspected to have drowned Baburam in a swimming pool at Medina Palms Resort on July 26,2015 in Watamu, Kilifi County.

Malindi high court Justice Said Chitembwe who was hearing the case, recused after allegations emerged that a court official had been bribed to compromise the case.

It was alleged that a Malindi court official, received a sum of sh.250,000 from Shiraz’s father to help set her daughter free.

Ms. Shiraz had earlier presented records in court claiming her husband was very sick, before dying at the  resort.

She, however, denied the charges and was released on a bond of sh. 10 million and two surety bonds of similar amount.

The case will be mentioned on 16th January 2017.
