Kilif, KENYA: Patients in public hospitals and health centers in Kilifi County remained unattended to on Monday, following the ongoing nurses and Doctors strike.

Patients who arrived early and those who were in the wards at the Kilifi County Hospital had to wait for an unknown period of time to receive treatment; which eventually never took place.

The main gates remained locked under tight security by watchmen who even blocked journalists from entering the hospital for coverage of the ongoing strike.

According to the guards, they had been ordered not to allow journalists  access to the hospital for any kind of coverage.

The nurses and doctors joined their colleagues  in the nationwide strike, claiming that the government had not met their agreement of 300% salary increment and promotions.

In Ganze dispensary, the situation remained the same and patients could be seen indesperate need of treatment but no one was on sight to serve them.

Efforts by Baraka FM  to speak to the leaders of the nurses and the county government officers in charge of health services proved futile.
