Mombasa, KENYA:Police in Changamwe, Mombasa have nabbed four bags of bhang worth sh.500,000 and arrested three suspects.
Police have identified the three prime suspects as Malachi Odongo, who was the driver of the vehicle,Joseph Mungeni and John Ochieng.
The drugs were impounded in Bokole area around 11pm Friday, following a tipoff by the public.
The officers who were in patrol, tried to flag off the vehicle, a toyota axio, but the driver sped off prompting the police to go after them.
The arrest comes barely a month after another car was impounded ferrying bhang worh sh.1.5million, where its owner jumped out of the moving car and fled.
According to police, the three suspects are believed to be notorious drug traffickers behind the supply of the drugs in Mombasa.
Changamwe acting police boss Anthony Shimoli confirmed to Baraka FM on phone the seizure of bhang and arrest of the suspects, saying investigations are underway.
“We are liasing with anti-narcotics officers,we have contacted them and they are coming to verify the drugs,we want to thank our officers for their quick action,”said the police boss.
The three suspects are being detained at Changamwe police station awaiting to be araigned in court on Monday,added Mr. Shimoli.
