Mombasa, KENYA: Kenya Prisons and Kenya Pipeline are the men and women’s 2016 season Kenya Volleyball KVF league champions respectively, after emerging top in the playoffs that culminated at the KPA Makande Hall Mombasa on Sunday.

The warders toppled General Service Unit GSU team with three wins in the three days round robin tournament, with their last victory coming against hosts KPA 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-20).

Elsewhere, Kenya Pipeline won the women’s title for the third time in a row after clawing back twice to edge Kenya Prisons 3-2 (21-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-23, 15-9) in the final match.

Just like men’s champions Kenya Prisons, Pipeline too claimed the title undefeated having coasted past Nairobi Water and Kenya Commercial Bank in other matches.

With the triumphs, Kenya Prisons and Kenya Pipeline each received Kshs 300,000 prize money from the federation.

Meanwhile, Kenya Pipeline centre blocker, Triza Atuka and Jirus Bett of Kenya Prisons were feted the 2016 Kenya Volleyball Federation league Most Valuable Players (MVPs) for both men’s and women respectively.
