Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Mombasa have gunned down one suspected robber and seriously wounded three who had broken into Peter Kenneth’s house in Nyali estate.

Police say the suspected robbers had gained access into the former presidential aspirant’s  compound with a robbery mission, during the 4 am incident in the wee hours of Monday.

According to police, the suspected robbers thought the compound was being manned by security guards only for them to bump into Administration police officers; when they tried to sneak in.

Several crude weapons including machetes and knives were recovered.

Mombasa county police commander Peterson Maelo confirmed to Baraka FM the killing of the suspect saying they  were in  hot pursuit of the other  three who escaped with injuries.

“The suspects were challenged but they defied police orders, prompting police to open fire,” said the police boss.
