5 Suspects linked to drug trafficking in Mombasa arrested

Mombasa, KENYA: Police on Sunday night arrested 5 prime suspects linked to drug trafficking in Mombasa.

According to Likoni police chief Willy Simba,the suspects were arrested in Mtongwe and Ferry areas, during an operation dubbed Tafuta Goso.

The police boss further said that one of the suspects identified as Goso, is the main suspect of the illegal trade and has been evading police dragnets.

“We managed to arrest the following suspects: Riziki Hassan,Abdallah Hamisi, Hamisi Mohammed,Salim Hamisi and Athumani Kasiim. Abdallah Hamisi is believed to be Goso’s confide,” added the police boss.

However the police boss did not reveal the amount of drugs seized during the crackdown.

He said the officers further extended the crackdown in Vijiweni area, where other several suspects engaging in liquor trade were nabbed.

Several litres of changaa was also seized from the suspects.

The police boss confirmed that 20 more suspects were arrested during the crackdown carried out by Administration and Regular police.

He said 20 litres of Changaa was found.

They were all detained at Likoni police station awaiting to be arraigned in court.
