Nairobi, KENYA: Senate Public Accounts and Investment Committee moved to  IG Joseph Boinnet’s office to demand the arrest of governor Dr. Alfred Mutua  for failing to appear before the committee on Thursday.

Speaking to journalists in Nairobi after handing the summoning letter to Boinnet ,PAIC vice chair Prof John Lonyangapuo said that they are moving with speed to make sure that the police swing into action and make sure that Dr Mutua appears before the committee; to answer 2013/14 financial audit Queries regarding his county.

“Dr Alfred Mutua must be delivered on Monday to answer to queries because we are about to complete 2013/14 audit queries for counties.”He said.

Prof Lonyangapuo said that the committee resolved that Dr. Mutua has to appear before the committee accusing him of skipping a couple of invitations.

He said that the committee members decided to hand over the letter to the IG’s office to avert scapegoats, in regard to delays that have been transpiring from last year which leads to derail of execution of their mandate.

Kiambu senator Kimani Wa Matangi and his counter part from Kakamega Dr Bonny Khakwale, insisted that governors have to be accountable of their spending across the counties, in order to minimize cases of corruption affecting counties.

“They can run but they cant hide we will catch up with them. There are three governors who are giving us problems ,Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya,Muranga governor Mwangi wa Iria and Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua.”Dr Khalwale said.

In his response, Dr Mutua said that he failed to appear before the committee due to miscommunication in regard to the letter he received, which was addressed to a different recipient adding that he was tackling urgent impeachment issues affecting him in his county.
