Limbe, CAMEROON: Harambee Starlets bowed out of the ongoing Africa Women Cup of Nations AWCON after losing 3-1 to Mali in their second group B match played in Limbe, Cameroon on Tuesday night.
Starlets went into the match knowing victory could have revived their semi-final hopes after Nigeria and Ghana had settled for a 1-1 draw.
In contrast, it was Mali who emerged victors with Bassira Toube grabbing a brace after Sebe Coulibaly had opened the scoring for the latter who responded to its 6-0 humbling by Nigeria in the opener.
Cherise Avilia scored Kenya’s consolation as Starlets defensive frailty remained their undoing as they succumb to their second defeat in as many matches having lost to Ghana with a similar margin.
Nigeria tops the group on four points, same with Ghana who has inferior goal difference.
