Kilifi, KENYA: More than 4000 residents of Ganze sub-county in Kilifi County have benefited from relief food donated to them by the Kenya electrical Generating Company (KENGEN).
In an event that was attended by the company employees at Rima la Pera primary school on Wednesday, the residents received the food items composing of maize flour , beans, coking fat and and other food items.
The overjoyed resident’s queued patiently to receive their portions as they thanked the company for responding to their courtesy call.
Mzee Karisa Kapombe a resident of Bamba village who has lost 36 of his cows to the devastating famine, expressed his gratitude for finally getting help.
“I feel very grateful today and I am much more grateful that we each received enough food to last us for sometime,’’ an overjoyed Karisa said.
“At least we now have hope that someone has heard what we have been going through and we hope that many more donors can come to our aid “he added.
On their part, most of the KENGEN employees in attendance emphasized to the residents on the importance of planting trees and ensuring their children are educated.
The Acting Assistant Operations officer at KENGEN Kipevu station Simon Kirui, urged the residents to ensure that their children received education, as that was the only way they could get employed.
