Mombasa, KENYA: A Mombasa court has given Nairobi senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko three months to give information on the whereabouts of Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) leader Omar Hamisi Mwamunuadzi.
Sonko had earlier on given a surety bond of sh. 10 million for the MRC leader, who is facing charges of being in possession of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition.
Mwamunuadzi and 37 members of MRC allegedly committed the offence on October 15, 2012 in Kombani, Kwale County.
Mombasa court in August this year, sermoned the Nairobi senator after Mwamunuadzi absconded the hearing of his case.
On Wednesday, Sonko through his lawyer Jared Magolo, told the court that he had received information that the MRC leader had crossed to Tanzania and asked for more time to get more information.
Sonko also alleged that Mwamunuadzi died, but promised to file a comprehensive report in three months.
Mombasa chief magistrate Douglas Ogoti said that he has given prosecution the last adjournment.
Ogoti said that the case has been pending in court for long and ordered Sonko to file a report in court on March 7 2017.
