Nairobi, KENYA: Gor Mahia head coach Jose Marcelo Ze’ Maria has been feted the Kenya Premier League KPL best coach of the Month for October.
The Brazilian guided Gor Mahia to collect seven points from the possible nine during that period.
The points came as result of beating arch rivals AFC Leopards 2-0, a 2-1 victory over Mathare United and a two all draw with Western Stima.
The former Inter Milan centre-back saw off competition from Tusker FC head coach Paul Nkata and Sofapaka’s John Baraza to claim the gong in the poles conducted by Sports Journalist Association of Kenya SJAK on Tuesday.
In recognition of his achievement he was represented with Ksh 50,000 and a personalized trophy courtesy of Fidelity Insurance Company.
He becomes the second foreign tactician after former AFC Leopards head coach Ivan Minnaert to claim the gong.
