Woman shot as thugs escape with sh 1.7 Million in Mombasa

Mombasa, KENYA: Four suspected armed robbers shot a woman and seriously wounded her after robbing a petrol station in Nyali links road Mombasa on Sunday.

The woman was allegedly  shot on the leg by the thugs as they were escaping.

Police said the suspects got away with sh.1.7 million cash in the 5 pm incident at the petrol station; the money was reportedly on transit to the bank.

According to an officer who is part of investigative team who requested for anonymity, the Money transfer vehicle had just arrived arrived to collect the cash before the four suspects stormed the station..

Witnesses say the lady who was shot in the leg was in the cash escort vehicle and it is said that she yelled after seeing the thugs; prompting the suspects to shot her twice in the leg.

The suspects later reportedly escaped using a motorcycle .

The lady shot has been admitted at Coast general hospital and reported to be in stable condition.

No arrest have so far been made but police have launched investigations.

Kisauni police boss Richard Ngatia could not be reached for comment by the time of going to press.
