Mombasa, KENYA: Detectives in Mombasa are looking for a private candidate who went missing after two of his accomplices were nabbed impersonating candidates in the ongoing 2016 KCSE exams.
Investigators probing the matter told Baraka FM on Friday that the suspect Namdi Godwilll Oridi, went missing on Tuesday after his two accomplices were arrested on Monday at Chandaria hall.
One of the suspect arrested on Monday confided to investigators that he was a third year student at Kenyatta University, Mombasa campus and he had been paid to sit for the exams.
Police are trying to establish if the suspect who escaped was the registered candidate for the exams, or he was sitting the exams on behalf of another candidate.
On Monday, Patras Israel Odhiambo presented himself to the hall and allegedly impersonated another registered candidate namely Shitote Joash of index 03910601/097 before he was nabbed.
As the exams were underway, the supervisors noticed incompatibility of the candidate’s photo and alerted the officers who move fast and arrest the suspect.
Mombasa Deputy Police boss Patrick Njoroge when contacted for a comment, said the matter was being handled by CID officers and he was yet to be briefed.
The two have so far been charged in court for impersonating as candidates.
