Mombasa, KENYA: Apart from offering wide unique city hotels, leisure resorts, traditional safari lodges and camps, Serena Group of hotels has launched several new products to improve their clientele.
Speaking during a media tour at the Serena Kilaguni and Amboseli Serena, Sales centre Manager Serena Safari Lodges-Kenya Raphael Lenaiyarra, said it is key for hoteliers and stakeholders to identify and develop new activities to attract visitors.
“We pride ourselves on the caliber of cuisine, warm service and diversity of interactive leisure options adapted to match the profile of our clients, and that is why we developed new activities,” he said.
Lenaiyarra said people who have put their investments in the tourism sector, have not seen the returns of their investments because the numbers of tourist have declined for the last few years.
“The government has done a lot, but the numbers had not increased that is why as Serena group of hotels we decided to pilot night game drives, Hiking, Rock Climbing, bush dinners and breakfast,” he added.
Peter Njoroge tourism Warden at the Tsavo West National Park said trends are changing and youths need to be involved in everything including visits at parks.
Bush breakfast at Lion Rock, sundowners at the roaring rocks and volcano climbs lava and cave explorations are part of the new products targeting youths.
“To attract young generation we need to go out of our comfort zones and develop new products to entice youths, here in Tsavo west we arrange bush parties and picnics and provide maximum security throughout their stay the lodge is also connected to free Wireless Internet ,” he said.
