Mombasa, KENYA: Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s political advisor has been arrested.

Major Mohammed Idriss was arrested on Sunday together with a county administrator who has been identified as Irene Wanjiru

Police said the suspect was leading criminal gangs and county inspectorates in demolishing a wall of a piece of land belonging to a private developer.

Police alleged Mr. Idriss led one full lorry of county inspectorates who were armed accompanied with a bulldozer; ready to demolish a wall situated around Nyali Cinemax area.

Police  reportedly roughed up the suspects but county askaris fled leaving alone a desperate Idriss and county administrator who were arrested and taken to Bamburi police station.

The said parcel of land allegedly  had a court order barring the county government from doing any kind of construction.

Mombasa county police commander Adhiambo Akello when contacted, said he was yet to receive “full” briefing from his juniors on the ground.
