Nairobi, KENYA: Modern Coast Rangers FC hopes of finishing among the top 10 teams in the National Super League NSL were dealt a blow on Wednesday after losing 3-0 to hosts Vihiga United in a midweek duel staged at Mumias Complex.
Rangers entered the match on the back of a 2-0 beating of Moya FC last weekend but could not match dominant Vihiga United who were the better side throughout the proceedings.
With the triumph, Vihiga took their point tally to 57, five points shy of promotion slot as they jumped to fifth in the 20-team table standings with eight matches to spare.
Meanwhile, Rangers stagnates at position 14 on 34 points and will have to return to its winning ways when they welcome 17th placed FC Talanta next week to avoid dropping further.
The first four teams by the end of the season will be promoted to the top tier league should the federation FKF and KPL come to terms on the same.
