Kilifi, KENYA: Kilifi County Deputy Governor Mr Kenneth Kamto on Tuesday accused some officials in his administration of political witch-hunt.
Speaking at Baraka FM during a talk show programme “Chanja Maswala”, Mr Kamto claimed the officials have sidelined him from chairing executive meetings in the absence of the Governor.
“There have been several cabinet meetings and the person who is suppose to send me an invite-the county secretary Mr. Owen Baya- has been deliberately ignoring me” said Kamto.
He further blamed governor Amos Kingi, alleging that he is using Baya to fight him.
A serious rift is said to have emerged between the deputy governor and his boss, following reports that Mr Kamto has expressed interest in vying for the Kilifi County gubernatorial seat in 2017.
However, Kamto has not openly confirmed or denied the claims of throwing his hat in the gubernatorial position next year.
“In politics we grow, though I have never publicly said that I will vie for the governor sit next year,” said Kamto.
During Mashujaa Day celebrations, Kamto said he was forced to hop into a tuk tuk to attend the function after his official car was confiscated by county secretary Owen Baya.
