Kilifi, KENYA: Education Principal Secretary Dr Belio Kipsang was in Kilifi on Tuesday for the official launch of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) where a total of 952,472 candidates are sitting for this year’s KCPE examination national wide.
Dr Sang arrived at the Kilifi Huduma Centre offices at around 4 a.m in the company of Coast regional director of education Dickson Ole Keis and other county senior education officials; to officially launch and later on witnessed distribution of the KCPE exams to different schools.
While addressing the media before the official launch, Kipsang said that the ministry was determined to make sure that all candidates regardless of region get a fair playing ground.
“We are here today to launch and witness the distribution of exam papers to various parts of this county/ region and to make sure that every pupil gets a fair playing ground. We hope as a nation we shall accord them the peace they much deserve as they sit for their exam”. Dr. Kipsang said.
“We all came here to give support to our children, to stand together to ensure that the playground is equal to everyone and also to make sure the integrity of the exam is well. That is what has brought us here,” he added.
He later toured Kilimo Primary School which is situated inside Pwani University; where he witnessed the candidates open their Mathematics paper;which was the first to be examined in this year’s exam timetable.
Meanwhile over 8,000 KCPE and KCSE candidates out of 26,330 from Kaloleni, Ganze and Magarini will be fed in their exam centers following the drought that is being witnessed in some parts in the county.
