Nairobi,KENYA: Presidential aspirant Dr. Ekuru Auokot has called upon president Kenyatta to put up a list of shame for corrupt individuals at Uhuru park; as a way of dealing with corruption in the country.
The Thirdway Alliance Party leader has also called out President Uhuru Kenyatta for accepting he cannot fight corruption and called for ‘hefty’ punishment for those found guilty of the vice.
Addressing the press in Nairobi on Monday, Dr. Ekuru Aukot said that this is a sign that the Jubilee Government has failed to fight theft of public funds.
“Corruption should be named as a national disaster.Kenyatta should seek advice from presidents in the region to get lessons on fighting corruption. Why is it that when these people are taken to court they suddenly become sick?We need to clean the system by firing corrupt Cabinet Secretaries.” he said.
Activist Boniface Mwangi who was also present at the briefing, said that most of them use sickness as an excuse to escape justice; as there are hospitals in prison that can cater for their sickness.
Dr. Aukot added that Kenya should follow the example of countries with progressive democracy which open special courts to reduce backlog.
“The government should open special courts to work on the large number of corruption cases. Why should we pay taxes if our money is stolen? Uhuru should resign!” Said Dr. Aukot.
