Kilifi, KENYA: Kilifi county secretary Owen Baya has rubbished claims by County deputy governor Kenneth Kamto that he took away his official car.
The allegations came out during the Mashujaa day celebrations when the Deputy Governor was spotted arriving at the venue aboard a TukTuk.
According to Owen, the deputy Governor’s official car is still with Kamto and it has not been spotted for quite some time now; for reasons best known to him.
“The deputy Governor must stop lamenting of his car having been taken away, because it is in his full possession,” said Owen during a press conference in his office on Tuesday.
“I think he is trying to look for sympathy votes from the public. I want to tell him that what he is doing is tarnishing the integrity of the county,” Mr. Baya added.
The county secretary went further to term the reckons of the deputy governor as cheap politics; which are irrelevant.
“All he is doing is cheap politics that is irrelevant, totally irrelevant especially during this moment when we are looking into ways and means of bailing our people out of the drought hitting them,” Baya added.
In his complains earlier, the Deputy Governor had alleged mistreatment by Owen who is his junior staff.
“Owen is a junior staff in this county who must address me as sir, but you will be shocked he has the powers to do that. I want to tell him that I will not hesitate to go to court should he not return my car,” said Kamto.
The County Secretary also alleged that he has no official car, as his is being used by the deputy governor.
