Nairobi, KENYA: Egypt national women’s soccer team landed in the country on Tuesday morning ahead of their Friday scheduled friendly match with hosts Kenya’s Harambee Starlets.
The Egyptians will first play Kenya Women Premier League reigning champions Thika Queens on Wednesday, before taking on Starlets on Friday evening at Kasarani stadium.
The friendly is one of a number that has been lined up for Starlets by Football Kenya Federation FKF, in a bid to shape up the team ahead of the forthcoming Africa Women’s Cup of Nations AWCON.
Starlets lost 1-0 to visiting Cameroon last Saturday in another gauge match and head coach David Ouma termed the result fair basing on Cameroon’s continental history.
Kenya is in Pool B alongside title holders Nigera, Ghana and Mali in the championship to be held in Cameroon starting 19th November through 5th December
