Nairobi, KENYA: Bernadette Musundi of Kenya conference of Catholic bishops has been elected as IEBC selection panel chair person.
Musundi was elected during a meeting held in Nairobi on Friday involving the whole panel , whereby Abdighafur ElBusaidy representing Supkem was also elected as vice chair.
Musundi said that 11 names expected to be transmitted to the President will be credible persons and are expected to serve in a dignified manner.
“The eleven names we are going to give the President , they will be names of credible people, people that any of them will be appointed to a position they can serve in a dignified manner, transparency will start from us. “Musundi said.
She promised to work as a team without representing any section, to ensure that democracy is seen to be adhered while upholding chapter 6 of the Constitution.
The team promised to be answerable to 40 million Kenyans promising to listen and make judgement while conceding that the agenda is heavy and the time is short.
Vice chair professor El Busaidy asked people of scrupulous character to apply to be Commissioners and IEBC Chairman saying the vetting will be fair.
The 8 member team is led by Professor Benadette Musundi ,Vice Chair Abdighafur Busaidy,
Ogla Karani, Canon Peter Karanja,Tom Mbaluto,Evans Monari,Mary Kigen, Sorobit, and Dr. David Oginde.
