Nairobi, KENYA: National men’s soccer team Harambee Stars has moved up six places to position 85 globally in the latest FIFA Rankings released on Thursday.
Stars are ranked 21st in the continent and second in the East Africa region CECAFA, led by Uganda who has dropped down seven places to position 72.
Rwanda (107), Ethiopia (126) and Burundi (138) close the top five positions in CECAFA.
Kenya’s latest rise can be attributed to a 1-0 victory away at DR Congo during the international friendly match played earlier in October.
Ivory Coast is ranked as the best side in Africa followed by Senegal who have now overtaken Algeria while Tunisia, Ghana complete the top five.
Argentina leads globally followed by Germany, Brazil, Belgium and Columbia as the best five teams respectively.
