Mombasa, KENYA: The National Social Security Fund has launched a new mobile app that will enable contributors access services right from their phones without having to visit their offices.
The app that goes by the name NSSF GO is already available on the play store for android devices and is also expected to be soon available for IOS, Windows and Blackberry devices.
Speaking during the launch of the app in Mombasa on Friday, NSSF Chairman Gideon Ndambuki said this is targeted to help NSSF contributors get access to the services in a more convenient and faster way.
“This app will enable contributors get access to their statements through their phones and also use mobile money services to pay their contributions without having to go queue at the offices. ” Said Mr. Ndambuki.
New National President Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) Mark Obuya who was also present at the launch, lauded the move saying this will benefit both the employers and the employees.
“I wish to congratulate NSSF for this major milestone as they will now be able to provide members with real time statements of their contributions at the comfort of their homes.” Said Mr. Obuya.
The NSSF chair said that at the moment they are starting with employers and already they have managed to register 22,000 employers on the app.
“Already we have registered 22,000 employers and we are looking forward to register the remaining 47,000, We urge employers to come to our offices to learn how to use it then later on we will engage the employees.” Said Ndambuki.
According to NSSF, the app will enable users to perform the following: Check balance, project savings, ccess full statement, contact NSSF any time and receive latest news at ones own convenience.
