Mombasa,KENYA:Detectives have been dispatched to hunt a senior National intelligence service -NIS officer after he claimed he was handcuffed by police officers and tied to an electricity pole in Likoni, Mombasa.
An officer privy to investigations, told Baraka fm the order to hunt down the NIS officer, was issued from higher ranks in the Police service.
“We have been issued timeline and we have to accomplish,” said the officer who requested to remain anonymous.
The agent was summoned to appear at Likoni police station on Thursday after the story was published on Baraka FM website.
“His phone has been switched off. we want him to explain what transpired,” added the source.
The officer, Rajab Mwamchiri, during interview with Baraka fm on Wednesday at Ujamaa area in Likoni, claimed three CID officers from Likoni police station (names withheld) handcuffed him and tied him to an electricity pole outside a workshop where he had gone to enquire about his music system which was being repaired.
He said he was tied to electricy pole for two hours before the public intervened.
