Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: Kenya Ports Authority women’s basketball team will on Friday evening take on Uganda’s KCC in their last match of the ongoing FIBA Africa Zone Five club hoping to claim the title they last won four years ago.
The porters have been impressive this far winning three of their four matches of the round robin tournament whose curtain comes down this evening in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Guided by veteran head coach Anthony Ojukwu, KPA are in pole position to clinch this year’s edition after drubbing hosts Jeshi La Kujenga Taifa (JKT) Stars 73-41 on Wednesday.
However, tied on points with Uganda Christian University students, they will have to edge KCC and hope their counterparts USIU beat UCU this afternoon for them to be crowned champions.
Elsewhere, Kenyan men’s representatives Ulinzi Warriors qualified for semi-finals after finishing second in pool B.
The soldiers, who were on the verge of being eliminated, had Uganda’s City Oilers to thank after the former beat Espoir from Rwanda gifting the Kenyans a last four spot.
