Suspect found with lost police firearm to be detained for five days, court orders

Mombasa, KENYA: A Mombasa court on Wednesday ordered a man alleged to be in possession of fire arm lost at Likoni police station, be detained for five days pending investigations.

Prosecutor Ms Josephine Mwaura earlier made an application seeking Rama Ali to be  detained for fifteen days.

Ms Mwaura said the suspect was allegedly involved in a series of crimes in Likoni area and requested enough time to enable investigating officers record statements from the complainants.

The Suspect was arrested on Monday evening and a G3 riffle was recovered from his house.

Mwaura also informed the court that the fire arm belonged to police constable Alexandar Kipyegomen who was charged in court for loss of a fire arm.

Mombasa Resident magistrate Martin Rabera also ordered that the suspect should to be taken to hospital before the case is mentioned on 12th October.
