Kinshasa, DRC: Michael Olunga’s 67th minute goal proved crucial as Harambee Stars beat hosts Democratic Republic of Congo 1-0, in an international friendly match played at Stade de Martyrs stadium Kinshasa on Tuesday night.
The towering IF Djurgardens forward met Paul Were’s cross that had hit cross bar and from a close range he rammed home to hand Kenya its second victory against DR Congo since 1992.
Wasteful Congo paid the price of not converting their chances despite dictating the proceedings for the better part of the encounter.
Harambee Stars who are already out of both AFCON 2017 and World Cup 2018 qualifiers were banking on the match to improve on their FIFA Rankings.
Meanwhile DR Congo who will feature in next year’s continental showpiece used the clash to prepare for their upcoming World cup qualifiers.
