Mombasa, KENYA: Suspected gangster who was arrested in possession of a lost police firearm is an Alshabaab returnee, Likoni police chief Willy Simba revealed Tuesday.
After being grilled for more than 8 hours at the station by Anti-Terror Police Unit, he said that he had been to Somalia for six months;where he trained and he was back in the country to carry out his activities.
The suspect Ali Rahma Bamama,30, was arrested in Mrima area Monday evening with a G3 riffle,magazine and one round of ammunition of 7.62mm.
His two accomplices however managed to escape the police dragnet.
Likoni police boss Willy Simba, said the suspect revealed vital information to investigators, which will assist to arrest more suspects.
He added that the two suspects whose names are yet to be revealed; are in the police wanted list.
Among the suspects being sought by police, is a witch doctor who is suspected to have been administering oath to the suspects before they “carry out their duties”.
“The suspect had hidden the firearm under the mattress and they were waiting to take an oath before we intercepted them,” added the police boss.
The G3 riffle serial number 77097156 was stolen at the house of a police officer early June this year under unclear circumstances.The firearm has been modified only that serial number identifies the gun.

The police boss noted that the suspect was whisked away to unknown destination after being interrogated at the station; this is he said is because of security reasons.
