Police recover missing G3 riffle in Likoni

Mombasa, KENYA: A G3 riffle which disappeared mysteriously at Likoni Police station was on Monday night recovered at Mrima Area in Likoni.

The  G3 77097156 owned by police officer Alexander Kipyegoman  that got  lost early June when it had 20 rounds of ammunition, was recovered by flying squad officers having only one bullet and also modified.

The suspect arrested allegedly in possession of the gun, Rahma Ali Bamama 30, was nabbed  after a tip off by locals of his whereabouts; however two of his accomplices managed to escape, police said.

“The suspect is being grilled if he is an Alshabaab returnee, the two who escaped the police dragnet will soon be arrested.” Said Likoni Police boss Willy Simba.

He added that the gun is suspected to have  been used to carry out several robberies including M-pesa robberies.

The suspect is being  held at Likoni station.
