Lamu, KENYA: The construction of four modern sections of the accident, emergency, renal and theatre units at the Lamu King Fahad Hospital will be complete by January next year.

Speaking in Lamu on Sunday, the county Chief officer in department of Health and Sanitation Mohamed Abubakar said the construction work was in its last stages and that the plan was to ensure the new premises are launched by next year.
Abubakar said for the first time ever, the county hospital will be able to attend to kidney patients once the renal unit is completed.
He said for the first time the county hospital will also be able to receive and attend to Intensive care patients once the new facility is done with.
He said the county was currently in the process of scouting for doctors and other medical experts who will be working at the new units at the hospitals.
“We are almost done with the construction of the units and hopefully we shall launch them early next year so that we can begin using them as soon as we can. We are currently scouting for the necessary staff and experts and I must say we are doing well,”said Abubakar.
He said the county was also expecting an extra Sh.100 Million from the government for the construction and upgrading of facilities at the Mpeketoni and Faza sub-county hospitals.
