Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Likoni have identified the firearm recovered from the slain wanted terrorist Ismael Mohammed Soshi, as the one stolen from the officer killed in January.
The G3 rifle with serial number KP 005698 was stolen from Nelson Mwadime a police constable who was escorting a lorry ferrying maize flour to some parts of Kwale; when three armed suspected thugs in a motorcycle attacked him and shot several times.
The officer was shot dead at around check-point in Shikaadabu, Likoni.
The said firearm had 20 rounds of ammunition when it was stolen.
Likoni police chief Willy Simba on Thursday confirmed to Baraka FM that the G3 firearm was taken for inspection at the police headquarters.
He said though the firearm has been modified, the serial numbers matched with the one stolen from the officer.
“This is our gun which was stolen from our police officer early January this year,I have inspected it and it matches with the one we have been looking for,” said the police boss.
