Nairobi,KENYA:Kenya Sevens team kicked off its Africa Cup 7s title defence on a winning note drubbing Nigeria 33-5 in the opening match played on Friday at Kasarani Stadium Nairobi.
Impala Saracens winger Lameck Dunde touched down twice with Strathmore’s Ginton Adongo and Captain Michael Wanjala also hitting the target.
Elsewhere Namibia overcame Tunisia 17-5, Madagascar beat Morocco 19-0 while Uganda came from behind to defeat Zimbabwe by 19-14.
In the next round of matches slated for later in the day Botswana will tussle Namibia, Zambia plays Madagascar, Mauritius takes on Uganda and Senegal plays Nigeria.
Meanwhile national rugby sevens team Shujaa has been drawn in Pool D alongside Australia, Japan and France in the Dubai Sevens.
Dubai Sevens, which is the first leg of World HSBC Sevens series, will be staged in Dubai in the weekend of 2-3 December 2016.
