Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Likoni Mombasa are holding a man who tried to commit suicide two months ago after he once again tried to jump from a moving ferry  into the ocean.

The man was arrested on Monday after he jumped  from the ferry that was crossing the channel from South Coast to Mombasa island in an attempt to commit suicide.

Divers on site are said to have responded immediately and rescued him.

Likoni police chief Willy Simba said the suspect Benson Njau jumped from Mv nyayo into the Indian ocean waters on Monday morning; when the ferry was at the middle of the channel, but was later on rescued by private divers.

“Njau tried to kill himself by jumping into the sea again after he was rescued three months ago after he tried to commit suicide on 31/5/2016 upon his arrest he was taken to court,” said police boss.

There has been several attempts by people to commit suicide at the Ferry with many being rescued by divers on site.
