Eldoret, KENYA: National football Girls champions St. Johns Kaloleni edged Nginda Girls 2-0 on Thursday to a book slot in the semi-finals of the ongoing East Africa Secondary School Games EASS in Eldoret.

Hellen Achieng was the heroine as she came off the bench to bag a brace to help the Coast reigning champions sail past Nginda, in an all Kenyan affair played at Eldoret Sports Club on Thursday.

Elsewhere, national finalist Wiyeta Girls also qualified for semis after claiming a 3-0 victory over Mukono from Uganda, thanks to goals apiece from Monicah Etot, Martha Anyotet and Rodah Nafula.

Other Kenyan team Nyakach Girls failed to make the cut after falling 4-2 to Rwandan champions GS Remera on post-match shootouts following a 2-2 draw during regulations.

In boys category, Kenya’s Friends School Bukembe sailed through with a 2-0 success over Rwandan side College Gisenyi in the quarter final match played earlier on Thursday.
