Mombasa, KENYA: A 33-year-old man was on Thursday charged in a Mombasa court after being accused of having sexual intercourse with a high school student.
Kengo Joto and Catherine Ngoja were on Tuesday found in a guest house located within Kenya Ferry area in Likoni at 10 am in the morning.
The two were found after Mombasa county officers got information that a student was spotted entering a lodging which was rented by Kengo.
Court heard that Kengo and Catherine were lovers and she was reporting back to school before they met.
Kengo who is not married, stood firm and told court he loved Catherine despite being a student.
The two were escorted to Likoni police station after they were arrested.
Catherine was later taken to Coast General hospital where her age was determined to be 19 years.
During court conviction, Mombasa senior resident magistrate Martin Rabera said the court considered the mitigation of the two and set them free.
“The charge sheet is not making sense but I would have convicted them,” he said.
Rabera further warned Kengo to let Catherine continue with her studies.
Court also advised Catherine to continue with her studies and assured her of getting a good husband once she was done with her studies.
Kengo told the court he dropped out of class five.
