Nairobi, KENYA: 13-time Kenya Premier champions AFC Leopards has sacked head-coach Ivan Minnaert citing spate of poor run of results that has left the club sitting in the drop zone.
The Belgian succeeded Dutchman Jan Koops at the helm in February and was tasked to lead Leopards back to glory.
Things however went against the expectations with Minnaert failing to sparkle despite spending heavily on the signing of new players during the June mid season transfer.
Minnaert latest dismal performance which seems to have sealed his fete at the den is a 3-0 trouncing at the hands of Western Stima last weekend in the Gotv Shield round of 16.
He leaves Leopards dangling 10th in the 16-team Kenya Premier League table standings having amassed 29 points from 23 rounds.
According to club’s statement, Ezekiel Akwana who played second fiddle to Minneart during his reign will take charges until the end of the current campaign.
