Mombasa, KENYA: Women in Mwakirunge area, Kisauni, on Thursday held demonstrations to urge the government to rerun the Scheme 2 tittle deed allocation citing errors in the process.

The women on Thursday said a few greedy officials had taken over the project and almost all the tittle deeds had errors.

‘We demand that the cancellation of the project and request the government to send in new surveyors to redo the settlement scheme,” said Esther Dama one of the demonstrators.

The residents said the project has brought more problems than solutions to them.

Another resident by the name Mzee Gorogosho Pepongwa, said the project has discriminated most of them, while some have not received the tittle deeds despite being registered in the survey Scheme 2 plans.

“The tittles have more than one name while others have no ID numbers, and some have been given different tittle deed plot numbers that belong to others,” he said.

Mzee Gorogosho said the project was meant for the homeless but that has not yet been accomplished.

‘It’s a great disappointment for us because we thought the project was just for us but we regret to say that the people who benefited the from the scheme are not from this area,” he added.
