Assistant chief charged in Mombasa court with fraud

Mombasa, KENYA: An assistant chief was on Tuesday charged in Mombasa court for procuring a Kenyan Identification Card to a Somali citizen.

Mohamed Said Nyaume allegedly procured a Kenyan ID unlawfully to Mohamed Bakari; a Somali citizen.

Court heard, on 12th July 2016 at Kiteje chief office within Kwale County, Nyaume jointly with others not before court, conspired together to commit a felony; namely procuring a Kenya Identity Card by fraud means.

He is also charged with unlawfully attempting to obtain registration of Kenyan ID card through registration form 1360; by falsely pretending that the applicant Mohamed Bakari was a Kenyan son to Said Bakari Mwashembi.

Nyaume was arraigned in court with Said Bakari Mwashibe, who was alleged to be the father to Mohamed Bakari a Somali citizen.

They pleaded not guilty before Mombasa Resident Magistrate Viola Yator.

Accused persons were released on a bond of Ksh.200,000 each.
