Maybe you would love to eat Omena but dreadful stories about it being bitter have been a spoiler, keeping you at bay.
Now don’t worry anymore. Here is how to prepare it.
- A cupful of Omena
- Cooking oil
- Chopped onion
- Dania (Coriander)
- 1 royco cube
- ½ sliced lemon
First add water to your Omena in a sufuria, let it boil for about 10-15 minutes.
Pour out the water then clean the Omena with cold water. Repeat the procedure of boiling, but this time for 5 minutes.
Pour out the water again then clean the omena again with cold water.Now its ready for normal cooking
Now add the chopped onion, tomatoes, dania and cooking oil to your Omena.
Let it cook for a few minutes (2 minutes) Add your cubes then stir.
When ready Squeeze some lemon on the Omena while on the table.
Remember omena is best served with hot ugali.
