Malindi, KENYA: Police have shot dead one person alleged to be a terrorist and two other arrested in Malindi; this is after Anti-terror Police unit received intelligence reports about their whereabouts.
Malindi OCP Matawa Muchangi confirmed the incident saying a shotgun and a revolver were recovered.
The raid on two houses being used by the suspected militants on Tuesday night, June 28, also led to the arrest of three suspects.
One police officer was also shot and injured during the shoot out.
According to police 18 IDs and over 20 passports were recovered.
The three had rented a house in Vescon estate, Malindi, where they lived and recruited new Alshabaab members before taking them to Somalia,says the police.
Francis Wanjohi the regional police boss also confirmed the raid and said security has been beefed up in the region to prevent attacks by the terror group.
One of the suspects arrested is Abdullaziz Ali from Majengo area who was already facing charges murder and terror activities.
