Mombasa, KENYA: Mtongwe Ward Representative Khamisi Mwidani has official taken over as the Mombasa County Majority Leader.
In his first speech on Tuesday , Khamisi Mwidani promised to unite the house, in order to carry out the county’s agenda of development.
” My first role is to unite the house and to make sure we move the development agenda of the county ahead, ” said Khamis.
This comes weeks after wrangles between him and the ousted majority leader Mohamed Kasagamba.
There has been quarrels in the Mombasa County parliament over who is suppose to be the majority leader, after a group in support of Kasagamba clashed with a group in support of Mwidani.
This led to the cancellation of the house sittings for weeks.
On Wednesday a show down was about to happen in the house after Mwidani sat on the seat belonging to the leader of Majority.
This prompted MCAs supporting Kasagamba to forceful remove him from the seat.
Luckily the Speaker Thadius Rajuay intervened and produced a letter from the ODM Party Mombasa branch, which stated that it had replaced Kasagamba as the majority leader and his seat taken by Mwidani.
