Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Mombasa have arrested a suspected drug dealer while he was crossing the Ferry.
The suspect was arrested at Likoni ferry channel as he was ferrying drugs to southern part of coastal city, authorities said on Sunday.
Police identified the suspect as Bernard Dede,32.
Likoni police chief Willy Simba told Baraka FM officers manning the channel that they received information from members of the public and that’s when they lay a trap.
“Some of the bhang was in 90 rolls with street value of ksh 100,000.The officers took the bhang as evidence,”said police boss.
He thanked the members of the public for volunteering information to security officers who arrested the suspect.
The suspect is being held at Likoni police station and will be taken to court after investigations is complete.
The arrest comes barely a week after Mombasa county commissioner Mohammed Maalim ordered security to be heightened at ferry channel following alshabaab threats.
