Nairobi, KENYA: Global technology giant Company IBM has advised the governments around the world to invest more in cyber security infrastructure as a way of fighting cyber crime.
Cyber security Manager for IBM East Africa, Alex Kioni has said that governments and financial companies are increasingly facing threats from smarter users from cyber criminal networks around the world.
“Governments have to take the fight on fraud and sabotage online because that is where it is happening. Increasingly, organized crime networks are using the internet, deep web and the dark web to recruit. It is so serious that we have found cartoon magazines for kids
available as free downloads embedded with viruses, malware and recruiting information,”he said.
“It seems that they are not only targeting adults but the youth as well specifically milennials,” he noted.
Kioni explained that the organized crime groups also own blogs and have a social media presence to ensure that they spread their manifestos.
