Embu, KENYA: Coast Region representatives at this year’s Kenya Secondary School Sports Association Term 2A Games Kaya Tiwi Boys from Kwale kicked off the champions in a footing they least expected.

Taking part in the inaugural Under-16 Football Tournament at the Kangaru High School, Embu County on Tuesday, the coast champions haplessly slumped 7-0 to bigwigs St. Anthony from Nzoia Region.

However, they were not the only culprits as Wahundura from Aberdare made a statement of intent with a 6-0 walloping of Katheka from Highlands in another group match.

Things then went from worse to worst for Coastal teams as St. Georges succumbed to a 22-12 defeat at the hands of Makongeni from Metropolitan in boy’s handball.

Defending champions Kimilili Boys launched their title defence with a 35-14 win over Mutonguni High from Highlands Region.

In Girls handball Kaya Tiwi from Coast thumped Syumile from Metropolitan 49-24 in girls’ handball, while Karuri were beaten by Mukuyu 26-31.
