Mombasa, KENYA: An alleged terrorist who was arrested on Tuesday in Mombasa will be detained for one month following a Mombasa court ruling.
This is to allow police officers to complete investigations before charging the suspect.
Ahmed Noor Abdulkadri was arrested at Kizingo residential area within Mombasa county following information from police that linked him to a terrorist.
An affidavit sworn in court on Tuesday indicated the suspect was employed at Masijid Immam Buhar in Likoni area as a teacher and his service was terminated due to extremist teachings.
A source told Baraka FM the suspect was arrested by a police officer when he failed to account for the reason as to why he was caught spying the Kizingo residential area.
“I am apprehensive that responded may go out of jurisdiction of this court before the investigations are completed,” an investigative officer told court.
Mombasa Senior Resident Magistrate Martin Rabera said following the nature of the offence alleged to have been committed by suspect, the court allows time for investigations before a suspect is charged.
The suspect will be charged on 14th July.
