Former KPA director declares bid to run for governor seat in Lamu

Lamu, KENYA: Former Kenya Ports Authority –KPA Board of Directors member Abdalla Fadhil has announced his intention to run for governor of Lamu in 2017.

Fadhil who is also the former Lamu County Council chair said he was confident he would oust current governor Issa Timamy in the next election.

Fadhil said he had been forced to give in to pressure from the people of Lamu who want him in the 2017 gubernatorial race.

He said he was currently scouting for a suitable political party that will guarantee his win in the election.

Fadhil will now battle it out with Timamy and politician Fahim Twaha who has so far began his campaign in various parts of the county.

“I am able and ready too.I have all it takes and if my people want me there then that’s exactly what I shall do.The choice of my party shall also depend on what my people want,” he said.

Fadhil has also previously served as Lamu Mayor between 1993-1996 and also 1997-1999.
