Bhang worth sh 1.5 million impounded by police in Changamwe

Mombasa,KENYA:Bhang worth sh. 1.5 Milion was on Thursday impounded by police in Changamwe, Mombasa.

The bhang 7900 kilograms packed in several sacks was impounded by undercover police with their counterparts traffic police in Changamwe area.

According to Changamwe DCIO Francis Wanjau suspect of the car registration number KBX 019L left his car on the road and took off.

He said the officers erected a roadblock following a tip off and they were able to stop him so as to conduct a search, upon realizing this the suspect fled.

“The suspect was alone in the car,when he realized the officers were being keen in checking his car he jumped out and ran away,”said Mr. Wanjau.

Mr wanjau noted that a manhunt for the suspect has been launched and called upon members of the public to volunteer information which will lead to his arrest.

“The suspect is tall black man,age between 30 -35 with dreads on his head,we will arrest him and make sure he faces charges in court,” added the DCIO.

He said the suspects have devised new ways of transporting the illegal bhang; one of them  being the  use of private vehicles so as to evade police arrest.

The car was towed to Changamwe police station.
